While overseas, Trevor reconnected with the pastor who married us. He informed Jeremy we'd be in town for a few months, possibly to leave before summer, and we want to dedicate our son before God and His church.
Prior to the service, Jeremy asked if Trevor to say a few words and pray aloud amongst the congregation. Although typically soft-spoken, he agreed. During worship, I prayed over what was about to happen. I prayed for the Lord to strengthen Trevor as he speaks regarding the plans we have for raising our son. I desire for our hearts to be focused solely on what Christ is doing in our lives, over who Christ is and how deeply we love Him and desire for David to know Him. I prayed for a genuine moment with our son and our Heavenly Father. For the Holy Spirit to fill us, and our son, as he grows.
Trevor spoke beautifully and with confidence. It's clear God empowered him to speak. The words in his prayer were echoed by Jeremy, which inspires me to believe the spirit flowed through them. He spoke of the community surrounding David--that although David is a child and cannot yet speak, he soaks up all the influences around him. It is our duty to direct him and to exemplify the love of Christ.
What an honor it is to be entrusted to raise this little life. Before he became our son, he was (and still is) His. Our promise is to honor God with the decisions we make for David-to raise him to know the Lord in hopes he will seek Jesus for himself one day. To represent and share of Christ's love. To nourish him physically, mentally & spiritually. To lead him in the direction to which he should go. This is our call as parents and as followers of Christ. Our desire for you, David, is that you would be overwhelmed by God's undying love for you, that you would accept Him as your Savior and have everlasting life with Jesus. We love you SO much.

While I got my hair done, Trevor took a shot at this week's photoshoot. Not too shabby.
